Lydia's FOURTH Birthday!

Lydia turned FOUR!

She had two parties. :) We had an extended family party the day before, when Zac, Whitney, Jenica, Jordan, Stanton and Lucy all came to visit! ☺️ She loves nothing more than being with people and the center of attention, so she was thrilled that some of her favorite family members came to celebrate her big day!

After hanging out all day, going on walks, talking, and playing on a segway, electric bike, piano, etc., we had at-home church and did build-your-own tacos for dinner. Later we invited our neighbor, Ede, over, lit candles on Lydia's "sparkle cake," (cake with sprinkles), sang to her, and she opened a few presents! She was beyond thrilled and her eyes sparkled as she watched her candles and listened to us singing.

The next day was her actual birthday. We celebrated by taking her to her FIRST day of preschool! We brought cupcakes to share with all of her new friends, and I was totally prepared to bring her home right away if she was upset. But she was really excited to finally have other kids to play with again! (It had been over 3 months since her preschool shut down and shelter-in-place started, meaning no more play dates.)

I picked her up at lunch time and she was all excited about her first day. I'd call it a success!

That night, I made the birthday cake she'd been requesting: a puppy cake! The same one as when she turned two. :) This time, Barkley didn't pull it off the counter and eat it. We sang to her again and she loved it.

This picture reminded me so much of this one my mom took on my 3rd or 4th birthday. So many similarities, even down to the pajamas! Can you see the frosting on my finger and face?

Luke was a good helper as we made the cake. :)

We love you Lydia!
