The mini-crisis that almost canceled Halloween

Welcome back, friends! We hope you had a wonderful week :)

When we left off last week, Matt and I were about to board a plane from L.A. directly to Provo!

After a lovely weekend with my family, it was time to head back. Although we'd never used the Provo airport or Allegiant Airlines, we were eager to test them out - and we loved our experience!

The plane was pretty small and, as we landed, we could see Y Mountain from the runway!

The airport felt more like a home than the busy airports we're used to, and we loved the change of pace. :)

We loved being 20 minutes from home upon landng, instead of over an hour away. Matt's brother Zac generously agreed to pick us up, and it was fun chatting with him on the last leg of our trip home!

After recuperating for the rest of the day on Sunday, the work week involved a lot of productive work for both of us. (A video I helped put together at work, narrated by me, is ready to be seen HERE!). It didn't leave time for much else!

Everything was going swimmingly until a minor emergency derailed us for about 12 hours. 

As Matt was working on papers and studying for midterms, his laptop crashed.  It was about the worst possible time!

After confirming that it was completely dead, we headed out to Best Buy and spent a couple hours deciding on the best replacement laptop. Even though it was a stressful event, it was still fun to learn about the latest technology and see really interesting new computers. 

About half of the newest personal laptops had touch-screen, and several had a screen that could pop off from the key board and turn into a tablet. I had no idea!

We researched, made our selection, and headed home, thinking the worst was over...

But no! After we took it home, we realized his new Asus didn't work. 

Frustrated after pulling an almost-all-nighter to make up for lost time, Matt had to return to Best Buy in the morning and replace the dysfunctional computer. Fortunately the transition was smooth and he came home with a really cool new Lenovo laptop, that can turn into a tablet!

It's called a 'Yoga' :D

With the crisis behind us, it didn't look good for our Halloween plans. Not only was Matt needing to catch up on school work, but our group we were planning to go out with had disintigrated. We weren't sure if we could go either!

But my thoughtful husband knew I'd been looking forward to our Halloween plans for a while, so he made time and together we drove out to Sundance for their Haunted Ski Lift! :D

Before we left, we got to hand out treats to two groups of kids! They were SOO CUTE! It was both of our first time on the 'giving' end of trick-or-treating, and it was fun! :) We left the remaining candy on the porch when we headed up to Sundance. 

We made it to the ski resort after dark, and rode their ski lift up into the beautiful, moon-lit mountains.  As we rode along we could see scary scenes below, on the ground (that's what made the lift "haunted"). 

There was a real person in a witch costume down there!

It was just as well-decorated and good as last year, but SCARIER because there were more real people to jump out at us, and COLDER, becuase it was SNOWING!!

The snow made it beautiful up in the mountains, but it was deceptively cold! You couldn't tell from the loading area, but once we passed over the ridge the wind picked up and snow flurries surrounded us! Ah! :D I just wish we'd dressed warmer - I was in my short-sleeved dress with flats, haha! Thank goodness we brought a blanket... it might have been miserable without it!!

We wore our German costumes :) Although we didn't get a good picture, here's one from last year. We wore the same thing!

After the Haunted Lift we spent some time at Sundance looking at their decorations before heading home. (They do a good job of everything I've seen them do. Including Halloween!)

After our fun night it was back to business, with the exception of a temple trip on Friday evening. We ran into Zac again once inside! :) Such a fun coincidence! 

On Saturday I taught a fun, crowded yoga class :) before coming home in time to say bye to Matt, who then headed out to an ROTC training all afternoon and evening. It was good for me to have some quiet time!

And now, we're grateful for Daylight Savings so we can sleep in a little longer before church! :)

I also realised that some of you might wonder about the difference between going to the temple and going to church on Sunday. For us as LDS Church members, there is a big difference! The best way I've seen it explained is in THIS VIDEO. I hope that clears things up! 

Coming up on November 4th is our SIX MONTH wedding anniversary! It's hard to believe it's been that long. I guess time flies when you're having fun! We'll fill you in on our celebrations next week :)
