Since my sisters and I had FOUR new babies this year, we had to get everyone together and meet them!
Newport Beach was the perfect location for a chaotic, but completely worth-it, family reunion. (Eight babies / little kids under one roof, even in a big beautiful beach house, was a lot!)
The highlight was all going to Crystal Cove beach at sunset for family pictures featuring Mom and Dad's eight grand babies. It was so stunning that even some difficulty getting everyone and their strollers down the steep hill to the beach didn't spoil the beauty. We went back again the next day!
One day we went to Balboa Island all together on the ferry. We tried the famous Balboa Island chocolate bananas, and the big kids got to ride the ferris wheel on the way back! One afternoon Matt rented an electric bike with seats for passengers, and most of us took turns riding it along the bach all the way down to the boardwalk and back. We spent a lot of time playing at the beach too!
Luke's favorite part was body surfing with Matt - he got all 3 of our big kids out into the waves!
One afternoon Sarah took Lydia and me to a jewelry making place to make charm necklaces. So fun!
On our last full day, Matt and I took Lydia, Luke and Elise on a day trip to Catalina Island. Matt had been wanting to go for years and said it was better even than he'd imagined. We rented a golf cart and drove up to see the best views, and later we got ice cream and hung out on the beach. We could see big, orange Garibaldi fish in the water - the kids want to go snorkeling next time! The ferry boat ride there and back was a fun new experience for them, too. :)
Such a great week in California!
