April
April was so fun!
Spring break in Cape Charles
The kids counted down the days to visiting "the yellow house" (our rental) in Cape Charles! We spent two nights and had a great time at the beach and exploring. The only downside was Elise getting sick and needing to go to urgent care. Everyone's favorite parts were the beach and the golf carts! We even got to stop at Kidsburg (a giant playground in Williamsburg) on the way.
Mike and Heidi's visit
Heidi ran the Boston Marathon for her second time! We got to track her progress on the app and follow along. She did great even with an injury! Then she and Mike took the train down to visit us for a few days. Matt and the kids met them at the train station. :)
The next morning Mike and Heidi went to Luke's soccer game! Then we had a big Covenant Path activity with our ward and another ward's Primaries. We'd been planning for months (I'm in the Primary presidency) and we had 50+ kids come. Mike and Heidi even got to help lead a station while Luke and Lydia participated. It turned out great - wish I'd gotten more pictures!
This was about a month before Heidi's 60th birthday so we celebrated! That night we took M&H to dinner at Lolita's (new to us and such a fun vibe, perfect for a party). We surprised her with a sparkler dessert! We brought our own big sparkler and asked them to light it / bring it in her dessert haha. Then bowling. :)
Trying octopus tentacle 😝
On Sunday the kids had a performance in church (great timing so M&H could see!) and they hung out at the house, explored down by the creek, etc. They headed out Monday after walking Lydia to the bus and coming along for Luke's preschool drop off! Fun quick visit. :)
Luke had soccer every Saturday!
And full-on springtime fun. Petting zoos galore and lots of playing outside!
Lydia sold shells she collected from Cape Charles and had friends join her. They say next is a lemonade stand...
Preschool drop off! Elise goes two mornings per week. She always runs up to Ms Katie and Ms Alma with the biggest smile!
Luke still loves preschool too :)
Preschool had a petting zoo one day that Luke and Elise got to visit together!
Solar eclipse - school let out early that day so the kids could see. We had a little watch party in our back yard.
A little gift from Emmi's parents for having her over all the time haha. So sweet. :)
An owl and a butterfly 💨
Annual neighborhood petting zoo / spring fair
Elise was DELIGHTED by the bunnies - her favorite!
Tractor rides with Soren (and Einar at the wheel)
Elise's favorite dress and shoes! She'd wear these every day if she could.
Lydia's artwork was on display again, this time at the elementary school STEAM fair. She was so proud!
Lyd and Emmi reading and chatting in the yard
The Hansens got a new driveway so Luke pulled up a chair to watch the action!
His preschool had Pirate Week which he got very into. :)
Matt took the big kids to a Flying Squirrels game for the elementary school's spirit night. They sat with friends from church and school, and got a fly ball!
