General Conference Weekend
The last time Matt and I had a TV in our house was when he was still at BYU. Some friends were moving away and didn't want to take their giant flat screen, so they gave it to us. We were thrilled! But in our tiny apartment it felt like we sitting in the front row of a movie theatre, no matter where in the room we sat - our place was that small. The TV didn't last long! And we never got another one.
The reason for the (temporary) upgrade was General Conference. It's a weekend-long series of inspirational talks, like TED talks, that our church puts on every six months. (You can watch all the sessions here). And since we were having Katie and Bridger over to watch part of it with us, we didn't want to crowd around my little laptop.
So we set up the big TV, made crepes and spiced apple cider, and pulled out all our toys so Lydia and Seneca could play while we watched and ate.
Lydia danced along to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir,
But this weekend, thanks to Mckenzie and Ricky letting us borrow their spare, we had a TV once again. We even rearranged all of the living room furniture to face it.
So we set up the big TV, made crepes and spiced apple cider, and pulled out all our toys so Lydia and Seneca could play while we watched and ate.
Lydia danced along to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir,
and fed her Cheerios to Barkley,
and we soaked up inspiring messages and guidance for the whole weekend.
Between sessions we went on family walks and took Lydia to the park and all braved Fred Meyer on a Saturday.
It was all so good and I can't wait to go back and read through each of the talks... And maybe buy ourselves a TV.
